Internet gaming activities licensed through Eritrea Gaming are regulated within the legal and administrative framework of the State of Eritrea.
An Eritrea Gaming license is issued subject to the applicable laws of Eritrea, the conditions attached to the license and any standards, policies, directions or regulatory notices issued by the Authority.
Eritrea’s internet gaming framework is structured through the Eritrean Gaming commission appointed by the Government of the State of Eritrea.
These instruments operate together with the specific conditions attached to each internet gaming license, including requirements relating to:
The applicable legislation and license conditions establish the basis upon which approved internet gaming businesses may be licensed, supervised and subject to regulatory action in Eritrea.
For approved businesses that provide online gaming or wagering services directly to players.
For approved businesses that supply gaming platforms, software, games, technology or other material gaming services to licensed operators.
The Authority may create additional license categories, endorsements or permissions where necessary to reflect the nature and risk profile of a particular gaming activity or service.

The institutional framework separates regulatory decision making from routine license administration. Applications and compliance submissions may be processed through authorised administrative channels, but all licensing decisions remain subject to the authority and approval of the Eritrean Gaming commission. The Authority may appoint authorised administrators, professional advisers, technical assessors, testing laboratories or other qualified service providers to support its regulatory functions.
The Authority’s principal regulatory functions include:
Establishing standards for licensed gaming operations
Assessing the suitability of applicants, owners, directors and key persons
Conducting licensing due diligence
Reviewing business plans and operational arrangements
Assessing AML/CTF and responsible gaming controls
Supervising compliance with license conditions
Reviewing material changes in ownership or control
Investigating suspected regulatory breaches
Exercising enforcement powers where requirements are not met
Issuing regulatory guidance, directions and notices
The Authority’s administrative functions include:
Review the due diligence requirements, operational standards and ongoing compliance obligations applicable to licensed gaming businesses.
Confirm whether an operator or supplier currently holds an Eritrea Gaming license.
